ADAPT Food Group are keen that people should have a go at growing their own foodstuff. There's no excuse! A small window box or a good sized garden plot. With a bit of good advice or a simple guide book(of which there are many)on fruit and veg growing ,you can make a start on one of the most rewarding things you're ever likely to do.
If you're not sure about sowing seeds, visit a local garden centre, market stall or village charity stall and buy a few veg plants that are ready to plant out. Choose plants you know you will eat and enjoy and check with garden centre staff as to what care they will need. Most herbs and veg require full sun and plants like beans will need stakes to grow up unless you choose a dwarf variety. Once you get your plants home , give them a really good watering and plant in your chosen spot. Keep them well watered but not flooded (this will help the roots establish well) then watch them grow!
